Walk of Witness Press Release: South Woking Churches link up for Walk of Witness!
Processions, each with one person carrying a wooden cross, started at three separate points - St. Peter’s, in Old Woking, St Mark’s in Westfield and the entrance to Woking Leisure Centre – at 9.30am and culminated at New Life Church (opposite Sainsbury’s) in Kingfield for a short service of worship in the car park at 10am, remembering the sacrifice that Jesus made at the cross but looking forward to Easter Sunday and celebrating that He rose from the dead! After the service everyone escaped the rain and enjoyed coffee and hot cross buns inside the church building. The event, now in its third year was supported by the six churches in south Woking - St. Marks, St Peters, All Souls, New Life, Vineyard and Send Evangelical. Andrew Bates, speaking on behalf of the six churches, said, “The procession was about remembering and thanking Jesus for what he went through on the Cross for us and that he rose from the dead to offer each of us hope of a new life with God’s help. It is about people making a statement that Jesus matters to them. It was encouraging that we had similar numbers to the last two years despite the weather.”
