Outside Light / Gloster Road Group
The vision for Gloster R.d group when it started some three years ago was
that it would grow to other parts of the Borough. This now appears to be close
to being fulfilled since we have started to work with people from two other
churches, in Knaphill and St Johns. A second project has already commenced in
Knaphill, going out every Monday evening to young people on the streets. We
now operate under the name of 'Outside Light' and are hopefully to form a
charity.
We value prayer support above everything else, however we also really need
more volunteer helpers.
Our objectives are to show young people that they are valued and loved, to
help them in practical ways and to help develop their spiritual awareness. We
have shared the gospel now with dozens of them. We have so far found them to
be mostly open to discussion, respectful to our beliefs, thankful to our time
playing football/frisbee etc (they often ask where we were if for some
reason a week is missed) and keen to chat - there have been occasions when they
have turned up at the church when we have been slow to go out of an evening. We
also take them hot chocolate and hold the occasional bbq for them.
